Hi I always fitted them in the hallway with that rad having two lock shields but been a few years since I was up to the new regs.

So reason for asking parents have just moved into a new build local authority house and they have it fitted in the living room with that rad having the lock shield valves, all others are trv's and a condensing combi.

Thanks

the way i see it is if thats where they will spend most their time then thats where the stat should be . Not so good if theres a fire in there

Thanks for the quick reply, no fire in that room, I just wondered that if they were sitting in there with the TV and lights on an the door shut the stat would trip off and the rest of the house would still be calling for heat through the open trv's

Thanks

The room stat is the master control, so when it says the room is up to temperature the boiler will turn off and it's hard luck on someone in another room.

The latest guidance just says that the stat should be in a room with no other form of temperature control, i.e. TRVs. It doesn't define 'room', so I can't see why it shouldn't be in the hall. I suppose it depends on the number of people ocupying the house and their lifestyle.
