Where to put the stairs...

I have a problem with potential locations of the stairs in a build I am planning. It seems that it is all a huge compromise and I don't seem to be able to find a good solution.

Essentially the problem is where to put the stairs for the 1F-to-2F.

(i) above existing GF-to-1F stairs (plans below).
- Efficient use of space
- Possible to use a rooflight above to light stair well & landing (so could infill landing at front)
- But arrival on 2F is too far to the right, resulting in 1 v.large room and 1 awkward room.

(ii) elsewhere (more central)
- Arrival on 2F allows for 2 better proportioned rooms
- But is inefficient on 1F (2 stairwells, no rooflight)
- Where exactly does it go?
(2 options I'm toying with are (i) in space to left of existing stairs, and (ii) where existing corridor is (corridor would move backwards to replace line cupboard, etc).

Please critique away, any inspiration would be much appreciated.

[The GF layout is pretty close, the 2F layout is ideally 2 rooms & a shower room off a small landing, the 1F layout needs reworking but will probably be master suite, 3 beds (1 with ensuite) and a family bath]:

The landing is pretty big so how about moving the stairs closer to the window and having each section the same size?

Not sure I understand. I could move the stairs closer to the window by c2 steps (limited by space on GF), this would reduce the effect of the narrow dogleg in the 2F playroom, but it would still be an awkward L-shape.

This is an 'illustration' of my options:
(i) stairs to left & rear of existing
(ii) stairs in existing corridor

I meant something like this, right in front of the landing window and ending over the door to either Bedroom 1 or 2

Ah, got you. Could work, would probably cut across the existing window (90cm from floor-cill) but space wise is nice and efficient.

If it cut accross the window you could maybe make a feature out of it?

I have been looking into this and think there will be a head height issue. As this is at the front of the house there are eves.

Step 9 will be @ 9x200mm = 1.8m from 1F level, with a further 1.8m headroom that would be 3.6m when there is only c2.7m floor to eaves height.

[i.e. I could only have 4 treads (4x200mm=0.8m) on the left and rear wall as seen in image below]
