I'm not yet onto doing our kitchen, however I will have the floors in the bathroom above the kitchen up for replacement before then, and so I want to take the opportunity to get some ducting put there while I can for the eventual cooker hood.

I had in mind to take the hood outlet up, 90 turn within the ceiling void and then run between the joists out to the external wall.

I'm a bit stumped though because I don't know where I can put the outlet in the external wall, as the down pipe of the guttering runs smack in the middle of the 400mm of wall that is between the joists. Can I put a vent behind the guttering??

I've attached a photo that shows the external wall (btw the ivy is now gone!)

Thanks for the quick reply, that makes sense.

It looks like you could swing the joint at the gutter into the corner of the wall if the ivy is removed,
then two bends at drain level, simple job done.
