Hi
Can anyone help with advice please.
We are about to replace a rubbish old baxi as we have extended , the house has 5 beds 2 electric showers 1 mains shower and underfloor heating in a large kitchen family room.
I was thinking vaillant 637 ? Or wb 40 , have just been told that intergas is a better choice but know nothing about them. I need a good warranty for peace of mind and good fuel economy.as well as the initial cost
Views or experience anyone ?

Many thanks

As you wont be doing the job, why not get a couple of quotes & then research the boiler(s) that's recommended.

I have a builder who is finishing the extension he will fit what we want , he's fitted different boilers so is happy with what we select.

Dosen't that worry you ? That's like your Doctor saying I've dolled out different pills so quite happy to prescribe whatever you want !

How much heat does your house need ? how do you heat your hot water ? How do you use your heating, i.e. are you in all the time, or out a good portion of the day ?

These, and others, are the questions a prospective installer SHOULD be asking you. They can then offer advice on which boiler they think is best suited. The choice is then cheap crappy boiler, or more expensive quality boiler, or somewhere in between, depending on your budjet.

Is this builder Gas Safe registered?

Is he listed with Intergas to be able to give the longer warranty?

My advice is to NEVER let a builder get involved with boilers or heating!

They are usually NOT registered with Gas Safe!

The builder has a gas fitter , not literally the builder fitting it !
I was told today we need a system boiler.
So which one ? Intergas 40 , wb or vaillant ? Any others ?

Intergas SB36 (surprised if you really need 40kW).
Atag Q38S
Vaillant 6 series.

Make sure the fitter is registered with the manufacturer that way you get the extended warranties. Which for those 3 is 5, 5 and 7 respectively.

A builder's fitter who doesn't care what he fits is likely to be some random gibbon from down the boozer and the installation will match.

The builder I do work for lets me do the survey/see the drawings and decide what's best. Unless there is a specification from the M&E bods or architect, in which case I then do the survey etc., and see what's best and try and alter the spec. Last time I didn't bother it went t!ts up. Lesson learned.
