Which garden hose should I buy ?

I need a 20 to 30 metre hose BUT am fed up with the hoselock hoses I have bought in the past which seem so stiff and often the connectors seem to leak !

Would Gardena and Karcher hoses and connectors be any better ?

Do you leave the supply on all of the time? Or do you turn off the water at the mains tap?

I turn it off after use.
