Hi,

I'm think about purchasing a mitre saw to be used for DIY (primarily cut/mitre some skirting, decking cut at 45 deg and a future wood floor).

I don't really want to spend more than £200 but given the width of some of the cuts, I may need a sliding saw. Can anybody recommend smething suitable or a good brand? I've seen the following at Screwfix but don't know whether it is any good or not:

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Damian

You'd be better off with a decent circular saw (190mm blade). Far more versatile and need far less room to operate. You don't need a table or roller guides either. The things you are looking at are far less versatile than you think.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies - I've just seen the following available at £199 - does anyone know if they are a good brand:

Elektra Beckum KGS 255

Thanks,

If you have a Costco near you and have a card or know someone who has they are currently doing the Dewalt DW707 with the leg stands for £199 + VAT.

Failing that DM Tools have the same thing which is where i got mine from http://www.dm-tools.co.uk/product.php?section=&sn=DEW707AV

I bought one a few weeks to do the same type of work you are planning and am really pleased with it. It may be a little over budget but as was pointed out to me when i was looking for the saw spare parts availability will be hard for the cheaper saws.
