Hi All.

I would like to place a sheet of glass directly onto an MDF table top. It is for a dining table, so I wanted to ask what thickness of glass would be advisable. It will be toughened. Since it is going to be placed flat onto the MDF surface, would anything less than 6mm suffice? Can toughened glass withstand a hot dish placed directly on it or a heavy cooking pot?

Thanks.

You should always use a trivet and glass will scratch easily with heavy metal items on it.

Thanks for the advice chippie244/foxhole. 6mm and a soft trivet it is then!
