when laying a solid wood floor should you go across exsisting boards or with exsisting boards/should you go across the window or with the window so that when sunlight comes in window you dont see joins between boards ??????????

You're better going 90° to the existing floorboards. You'll get less rocking that way if your floorboards have cupped a little.

Gcol is right, but in the case that wouldn't look good because of the dimensions of the room (or have too many false shades with the light striking over the width of the boards) you could first install hardboard on the existing boards to tackle the unevenness and draft problem.
