Evening all,
Wonder if any of the experts in here know anything about the make up of old wardrobe doors.
The wife bought an old (like 1960s), round cornered type wardrobe from a charity shop a few years ago and she’s just decided she’s going to paint it red and make it look like an old telephone box (as you do) for the kids’ playroom.
Anywho, it was obviously my job to jigsaw out the ‘windows’ in the door to make it look authentic, which I’ve done, but whilst cutting it, I found there was a very brittle, white, plastic like substance within parts of the door.
It looked a little like Bakelite!
Any ideas as to what it might be?
I’m sure it’s probably just some cheap method of filling doors from the olden days, to save expensive solid wood but seeing as the kids are going to be playing with it, I thought I’d ask about.
Thanks in advance
