As I left work, I heard a noise.

I then noticed that a guy on his scooter was laying on the floor. I crossed the road, lifted the scooter off his leg.

I told him that I would go to the nearest convenience store to buy him some full sugar coke. He said that he just needed water,I replied that the Coke would help to maintain his sugar levels. The shop was about 50m away. Whilst in the shop I decided to buy the coke and some water and a roll of kitchen paper so that he could clean the wound.

I came out of the shop and he had effed off.

I have just got to the pub and "donated" items to the barman.

I only spent about £4, and although it was an unconditional purchase, I hate wasting money on people that don't have the decency to accept or appreciate the offer

Did you not think to handcuff him, to prevent him escaping before going off to the shop? :)

There could be lots of reasons why he didn't want to hang around - no tax/insurance/licence, maybe he felt OK and could deal with it himself, better at home.

if he had told you he didn't want the coke, he may have felt no obligation to wait and thank you for it.

Agreed, when I mentioned that I would buy him Coke, he said that he would prefer a bottle of water. He didn't have the decency to wait to discover that I purchased water, coke and a roll of kitchen paper.

If, in the unlikely, event that I see him fall off again, I will lift the bike off him again, but I will be less inclined to to walk to a shop and spend my money .

I explained why I was purchasing the Coke.. If he didn't want it, then he should have had the decency "thanks but no thanks".

In the general scheme of things it was pretty minor but I hate the fact that it makes me more cynical

Probably fibres letting go from the roll......I heard somewhere that cling film was good - but either way, stop the bleeding.
John :)

Maybe he was worried about too much sugar and the diabetes link….Your a kind man and I applaud your thoughtfulness

Sorry @opps , but there's his side to it...

Having got the bike up for which he probably said Ta if his wits were with him,
you chose to interrupt what he was doing and argue to foist something on him, so that you could enjoy "caring", or maybe so you could get a lecture in about sugar and feel very grand. "You know better than he does".
You mistakenly deduced that in return for your involvement he owed you conversation. Effusive gratitude perhaps.
If he'd said "No" you might have hung about to offer him other things he didn't want, or produce medical evidence as to the rectitude of your assertion about sugar.
So instead, he got rid of you at least cost or insult to yourself.
He might have told you to F off.
But then he'd have had to deal with your umbrage.

What a thoughtful fellow he is!

That's without being uninsured/a criminal fleeing from a bank job...

I believe that nobody does anything unless they want to, because it gives them pleasure.
So it's not a personal criticism.

Yes Burnerman has it.
Cheap tissue is bad in wounds - loo roll is the worst. They have to pick it out fibre at a time.

They don't pick fibres, (paper, cloth or otherwise), out of a wound because it is far easier, and safer, to wash them out with sterile saline.

They did to me, took ages and they moaned at me! Depends, I suppose.

Well done opps for trying to help somebody.

Maybe the guy was in shock and just wanted to get away from things.......
Either way, you did a good deed there so 10/10 for that one.
John :)

I guessed that he was in shock, which is why I recommended that he have sugar. I concluded that him waiting a while before getting back on the bike was safer than him just scooting off whilst in shock, safer for him and other road users.
