Had some work done on roof recently. New slates and they put a new waterproof membrane on. Since its been done upper part of house seems to lose heat quicker. Was up there other day seemed pretty drafty and edge of membrane (well at edge seemed to be blowing a lot, not sure if it was waterproof membrane or not). Keep meaning to phone them but have a feeling I might be fobbed off as I'm clueless. Guess membrane might not be fixed properly at edges or some point, could something like this make such a difference to the temperature of our house?[/u]

roofs should be draughty cold places to dry out any dampness
the loft insulation should hold the house heat in the correct area

As big-all said, and the insulation at ceiling level should be around 270mm.

Ok thnx for that. Guess weather is just colder and I don't think we have as much wall insulation as we used to. Might look into insulation thing.
