Why not here?

So why was he not tried and prosecuted in Britain?
Could be - from the article
"The evidence used by the US authorities to extradite a suspect does not need to meet the same tests as set out in the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Actually, the good news is that he was tried in America and, because of that, he is likely to suffer a more meaningful sentence than he would over here.
Another good reason.

In fact, I think we should send more of our criminals to America to be tried.
Perhaps we do and will.

Simple,,, America doesn't have a "Crown Prosecution Service" making the decision to prosecute criminals.

Or there wasn't enough evidence for the cps to prosecute, but, once another plot was foiled, the yanks got what they needed.

So why was he not tried and prosecuted in Britain?

A spokeswoman from the CPS was interviewed about this on radio 4 on Thursday . She explained that the police had to act as soon as the plot was uncovered in the interests of public safety which unfortunately meant that when he was picked up there were no explosives which of course weakened the case against him. Indeed their evidence was largely based on " coded messages" said to be sent between Naseer and a terrorist cell. When it came to the prosecution in the states then they were able to rely upon greater information and evidence some of which was retrieved from the raid on Bin Ladens hideout.

The hideout they raided after whisking their new informant away to live a life of luxury, hidden away from prying eyes.
