Why why why?

Ok, been up in the loft, and i can confirm that there is a tank. Thanks for the advice guys. All the best.

As said don't be too hard on them, it is a genuine easy to do.

You could have lots of fun with the guys though.

Start off with How long ! have you been in the game.

I just found ut the original contract with the boiler fitters, it says it's a tank fed system.

i'm more interested to see if they will try to worm thier way out of paying for the work. I should be covered because i have their platinum cover, but if they see it as an existing fault when they initially inspected the boiler i'm not covered. They may argue this...

...As a result of a design fault which we could not be identify at the initial inspection (using reasonable skill and care), is not included in this Agreement.

Now they are saying after three inspections that it is installed incorrectly. Before i explain that it is tank fed i might ask how its been missed by two of thier engineers previously. They both tried to pressurise the system, and one of them actually left saying he didn't know how the system worked with no pressure for so long. i thought i'd just been lucky. Seems they all missed the tank fed option. I've learned a lot today.

To be fair, at a guess, the original installer may have been at fault for leaving a redundant pressure guage on there, I don't know for sure though, could have been left in case you wanted it as a sealed system in the future.

Fair enough, but you guys managed to point me in the right direction without even seeing the boiler. Seems the lack of pipe and the additional pipe leading to the loft were a bit of a clue.

not really these boilers dont use a threaded connection to blank off. and cant be. as there an O ring and clip jobby for the gauge connection. O P i cant see a problem. the boiler was installed as per manufactures details. enough said.

What work, you don't need work, and there's no fault.

In addition you don't want them converting it to a sealed system.

The clue is when you said you only had the pump changed in 14 years, if it was a sealed system, you would have had at least one expansion vessel change and possibly two.

Doitall, i'm going to get a phone call from scottish power telling me that i need to have a discharge pipe fitted, because that's what the engineer said needed to happen for safety reasons. I know now that there is nothing that needs to be done. I'm intersted to see if they want me to pay for it, and try to wriggle out of paying themselves. Just to see how good my cover is.

keep us posted on the result just out of curiosity. thanks and as doitall has mentioned dont let them go down the rout of pressuring up the system. as you may find the EV will need changing, PITA to do. iso valves will probably leak. list can go on.

Maybe they know it's not an issue but are drumming up extra business? watchdog next?

They weren't counting on you lot getting involved. They underestimate you they do. Might ring Watchdog anyway, Anne Robinson is strangely attractive.

Have some fun by all means, as I would , I certainly don't think it's a watchdog problem, unless they insist that you boiler is dangerous of course.
