hi, first visit here. Great forum. Could do with a little info if anyone can help.
My mother was recently cleaning our downstairs toilet room which is where our boiler is. She accidentally knocked something off the top of the boiler she described as a rubber nipple and a small valve like thing. She thinks this fell down the back of all the pipe boxing and can't be reached without removing the whole boxing. The boiler stopped working. My dad had a look inside the boiler and noticed an un-capped rubber pipe coming from a T leading to the hole where the rubber nipple poked out. He blocked this off with blue-tack as a test and the boiler worked perfectly again. Can anyone explain what we've lost and if our temporary blue-tack fix is going to cause any damage to our boiler? We no longer have our manual for the boiler either so were baffled. Thanks for your time.
