Hi all,
I’m in the process of widening the doorway to a cupboard on a block wall so that I can fit in a washing machine.
For your info, the property dates back to 1880 and the single storey extension was likely added in the early 1900’s.
I’ve cut away enough of the block work to accommodate the washing machine once the door lining has been added, but am left with an unsightly gap in the concrete floor, particularly on the right side.
Please see the included images.
How would you suggest I proceed? Would I simply pour some self-leveller into the gaps that are left?
As far I can see the black left in the gap on the right is part of the DPC sitting in the base of the wall, perhaps slate? I’m imagining I’ll have to hack that out and reach the main concrete foundation?
I’m particularly cautious because this part of the house is more damp than the rest and I’d like to improve that as part of this project too.
By pouring self-leveller, I don’t want to inadvertently be bridging anything although it appears the plaster is already in contact with the floor so that’s happening anyway.
Your thoughts and guidance would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
