Will Glow-Worm Home 12r boiler work on 230v relay and eBus?

Hi there,

Quick one..

I have a glow worm home 12r in use as a system boiler running heating through 2 zones and hot water through a storage cylinder on a 3rd zone.

I've searched through the install manual and I think this should work, but want to try to make sure before I shell out.

We want to move our home heating and hot water over to 'smart' controls.

The controller that will look after the heating will talk to the boiler via eBus, but the hot water controller will use a standard 230v relay.

Will the boiler respond to both inputs or can it only be set to use either/or?

Many thanks,

Dan

I should imagine it would work with both, but not entirely sure. Are you using glow worm ebus?

eBus from Tado for heating.. Then relay from a Sonoff THR316D for hot water control

Thanks @ScottishGasMan..

What I plan on doing is a bit of a bodge.. I currently have an s-plan system with 2 zones for CH and 1 zone for HW.. Tado doesn't support this (and its hot water functionality is basic - I want a system that can track the heat of the cylinder and take this into account)..

So my plan is to Parallel both HW zone valves together into one 230v send from the Tado EU wireless receiver so they open on call for heat from Tado (wireless TRV's to be fitted to rads to control room heat)

Then I can take the 230v relay from the separate HW controller (sonoff 316D) and send that to the HW valve with the switched output from that sent to the 230v relay in for the boiler.

When CH is called does the boiler "listen" for the eBus send from Tado (or would the 230v switched outs from the valves need to be wired through to the relay in on the boiler too?)

When the 230v relay is triggered on the boiler does it then listen to eBus? (ie Tado calls for CH)

What if 230v relay is triggered and there's no eBus signal (ie sonoff calls for HW) what happens?

Is this a complete fantasy and I should go back to the Tado basic CH and HW controller for UK (1 zone CH with both valves paralleled and then the HW also controlled, but no eBus - so no active modulation?)

Am I an idiot?

Cheers!

Dan

Or just remove the heads so the heating zones are permanently open (the TRV's will close the rads when heat isn't needed)..

Then the eBus from Tado calls for heat from the boiler when the smart TRV's and schedule request it..

The Sonoff relay connects to the HW valve and the switched output of that through to the relay in of the boiler.. WHen HW is required the Sonoff opens the valve and supplies 230v to the boiler relay input - what happens (hopefully boiler fires up - even with absence of eBus command? As it does at the moment (no eBus, dumb controller)

Many thanks
