Hi,

I have two windows in my kitchen that I want changing to make room for a new kitchen layout. Both windows are about 1500x1200. I want one window changed to 900mm wide and the brickwork around the new smaller window made good. I want the other window removed and bricked up completely. I assume in both cases the lintels will need to come out (and in the case of the first window replaced with a smaller one).

I'm at the stage where I need to ring around and get some quotes. My question is, is this a job for a window fitter or a general builder? The room will be replastered afterwards so I'm not concerned about the making good of the interior surface.

Thanks.

An experienced builder will do it in a snap. An experienced w/fitter could do the frame and lintel stuff but not be best for the whole job.

Why not get a quote and a job description from a builder?

You have nothing to lose by posting internal and external pics on here. There are often aspects that you as a DIY'er cannot see.

You could get the postman to do it if he knew how to fit frames, lintels and lay bricks.

Many trades can multi skill, or sub the work out.

Just ask whoever what they can do
