Hi I have stucco work around my windows (georgian style). The lintles on the 2 upstairs windows have cracked. I have had estimates for fixing them and only confidence in using one of the builders. He suggested that the lintel is probably a row of soldiers that have lost their integrity. It is suggested that finger width pieces of slate are pushed between the bricks and then secured with resin. This will cost £550 plus vat per window. More than I can afford. Is this very specialist work, or would I be able to do it (I have renovated 4 houses, so I do have DIY skills). Thank you for your help :)
ps sorry I do not have a photo, but they are the common style with jutting out scrolls on the left and right, 'holding up' a protruding cornice top. The actual lintle is behind a flat stucco section about 18" high, underneath the cornice top. Hope this makes sense

this particular type of job, coupled with a decorative render, makes it one to avoid.

hence the high prices.
