Window slides down into place, cannot stay open above this

Hello,

The windows in my bedroom and living room are the same design but the window in my bedroom can only stay open when it clicks into place. The living room window is able to stay open above the notches which allows the window to open more.

I've attached a picture of the living room window.

I would like my bedroom window to stay open above the notches without immediately sliding back down.

Strikes me as it's designed to do that for use as an emergency exit.

What do the instructions on the pink sticker say?

The red sticker appears to indicate that if you push the lever the one above where the red arrow is, the mechanism should engage with one of the grooves indicated by the blue lines in the image?

The entire mechanism appears "clean" and as such in a new condition? how old is the window??

I think the living room windows are newer than the bedroom window but they're all the same design and type.
Would there be a way to re-stiffen the bedroom window?
