Can anyone tell me how to disable / delete this trashy service?

The less non - needed programs running on my machine the better, as I don't need / want the service, don't want any junk programs running.

Cheers. I think the messenger service has stopped, it's not running in the processess. I would imagine the .NET thing is fairly useless and can't be used by anyone else.

It also depends if you means Windows Messenger (the thing like MSN) or the Windows Messenger Service, which is somethig different and can be stopped by running services.msc from a command prompt and then scrolling to the messenger service and disabling it.
