Windows replaced - should council have been notified?

Hello,

We had our windows and front door replaced last year. The installer gave us an Assure Certificate at the end, which says the work is compliant with building regulations.

We never informed the council of the intent to do this work (first time homeowner naivety, I had no idea that was required).

Should I approach the council about this, or is there no need?

An Assure certificate shows that your installers are members of the Assure self certifying scheme.

Your installation should meet building standards, and your LA should hopefully have been notified.

My LA have a web portal, that allows a search for building control applications related to my house. It may be worth investigating your LA website, to see if the notification is listed there.

So, theoretically, nothing to worry about! :)

(...as long as you aren't in a conservation area, or own a listed building! ;) )

Thanks for the reply. I believe I've found a similar search. I can see applications related to the property approved in the past, however there is no mention of any window work. Also, the same search listed "constraints" and there was no mention of conservation (and we're certainly not a listed building!)
