Winter or fuel bills

Is this environmental thing getting out of hand?

I had a [Telephone] call about 5 / 6 Weeks ago.

Give us a couple of Hundred Quid and we will send out an "ENERGY SURVEYOR"

Big deal, in a former life I did a lot of study into heat loss, intersintersticialnsation, Dew points, Thermal loss through [dozens of] various structures. In 1960 the HNC I HNCaged to get was really worth something, no "Modules" no re-sits, a one off chance at getting the Certificate.

So someone will come along and tell me all about insulation and give me information on how I can "claim" for subsidissubsidizedion

Hold on what about my original fee to this guy? £ 200 ?

There are serious RIP OFFs going on all the time in this so called "green industry"

I also had a pair of very naïve young persons try to doorstep sell me a "product" that would make my condensing boiler work more efficiently?

How. this "firm" come along and put some "gubbins" below or alongside the boiler so that is constantly in "Condensing mode" at a pre-set temperature this it is claimed will save me some [lots of] MONEY

Too be to good to be true? yes it is

To fit this Gubbins, it will cost you about £ 2,000?

A quick check on the net reveals that this one is also a rip off

Bottom line is who or indeed what do you believe in?

In one of my post that I am with eon, and they have been urging me to combine my both bills on one, and I thought it was a trick as currently I earn 10% discount on my Gas based on 6% for being a dual fuel customer, and a 2% for direct debit and a further 2% for paperless billing,

But on my Electric I get 6% for being a dual fuel customer, and 2% for direct debit, but I do not get a further 2% for paperless billing,

So I then said I get equivalent of 18% discount on both bills, but that is not true, it works out average of two figures, so that is overall 9% discount on both bills.

so if my gas bill was £400 and electric was £200, I would get 10% on my gas so that would be £40 and on electric it would be 8% which is £16

However, if I combined my bills as one, (Merge) then overall discount would be 9% on both which is £600 and total discount = £54

Which means it would not make any difference if you do combine both bills, you will still get exactly the right amount of discount.

Do you have to cut into a gas cylinder? If so that is very dangerous, I think I recall some guy getting killed recently trying something like this.

Although they advertise it as having various safety features and an accurate drip feed system, I'd be very wary of burning petrol (as advertised). Most other 'fuels' are probably safe enough.
