Wire colours meaning? In an existing fan. (Solved) (Ed.)

Hi there,

Planning to replace the bathroom extraction fan, but I cannot tell which is which as the colours (red, blue, yellow) of the wires are different to what I can find on other fans or in the web. I guess they are:

Red = permanent live
Yellow= switch live
Blue = neutral

Is a that right?

That may well work but check connections at ceiling rose to confirm the respective terminations match at that end

You are probably correct for a fan with an over run timer, which suggests somebody just fitted a non timer model as they are cheaper

Thanks gents! Yes the one fan does not come with timer switch, but the new one does.
