I've just been looking at a Response SA 5 wireless alarm, are they any good. Are there any pitfalls with wireless alarms other than battery life and possible interference, the thing that attracts me to wireless is the ease of install.
I think most here will agree that wireless alarms are not as good as their hard-wired counterparts mainly for the reasons you have stated. A hardwired system requires minimal maintenance, basically it just sits there doing what it's meant to with little intervention. Fault finding a hard-wired system is generally simpler than that of a wireless, in a wireless you are reliant on the panel telling you whats gone wrong. Spares are readily available for hard-wired and are generally cross compatable.
I have installed a few of the Texecom R8 systems which seem to be reliable standard panels with a remote keypad so the main box can be hidden away. They haven't given any grief as yet touch wood.
