Wireless thermostat

Cheers fort that,
Sorry...the loo/bathroom is the same room!...i understand in hindsight that my OP didnt probably read very well!!

So i think you are confirming my original thoughts.
change the TRV from hall to bathroom..leaving the hall with no TRV and locate my wireless stat there.

If i then lower my TRVs though wont it still heat the hall??..whats the idea behind leaving that rad TRV free?...stop the boiler working like a maniac if someone turns it down?

Cheers,
Marty.

Yes

It does not matter where you put the room stat, that area will be heated up until the stat cuts out.

The whole idea is that you set the TRVs in each room to what is a comfortable temp in that room and then leave them alone. By putting the Room stat in the hall, which is most likely to be subject to temperature drop, there is a greater chance that the boiler will be on when the TRV in another room calls for heat. (You won't heat a rad up if the boiler is not running!) If you find that the boiler keeps running after all the other rooms are up to temp and the hall feels comfortable, just drop the hall stat half a degree or so. It is a case of trial and error.

You should not have two devices trying to control the temperature in the same area (room/hall). If you set the TRV to, say, 20C and the Stat to 21C, the TRV will shut the rad down but the boiler will keep going unnecessarily because the Room Stat will not have reached temp. This will waste gas. The opposite, room stat lower than TRV is not so bad.

Cheers for that,
Makes sense...only thing is my TRV's just have hot and cold symbols on them so setting them to a similar temp to the stat will be tricky........!>???
