I'm replacing a Danfoss RET230P dial-type room thermostat with a Salus RT300 digital one in our upstairs 'zone'.

I thought it would be easy because I did something similar a few years ago downstairs replacing an old dial Honeywell with a digital DT200 Honeywell. There were just two brown wires coming out of the wall, which was simple enough to work out.

However, upstairs the Danfoss appears to have a blue wire going into N and a brown into L. Then there are 3 more terminals collectively labelled "Output" which are each labelled as follows:

1 ON - Has a blue wire connected
2 OFF - Nothing connected
3 COM - Has a bridging wire connected back to the L terminal

The new RT300 has just these terminals:
"L (Mains Live)"
"SL (Switched Live - Normally Open Contact)"
Also "Earth Parking (No electrical connection)"

So I'm not sure what to do with my 3 wall wires?

Reading up a bit more - I understand a little more, I think...

On the Danfoss, the brown wire going into L is the live input.
The blue going into N is neutral (!)

Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are the "switched live output".
3 has the common link to L, and 2 is the empty terminal for the OFF position.
The blue coming out of 1 is the live output.

So I deduce that the brown going into the old L should go into L on the new RT300.
And the blue coming out of the old 1 should be connected to the SL on the RT300.
Then the old blue neutral can just be blanked off and left unconnected?

Am I getting there?

Here's the wiring diagram for the existing Danfoss:

The Salus RT300 manual is here:

Yes that's right. The neutral isn't required because the new stat is battery powered so all you're left with is a simple temperature switch which connects Live to Switched Live when the central heating is required.
