Wiring a transformer

I have a transformer that I bought seperately to connect my cabinet lights. The transformer has a live and neutral coming out of one end and two cables coming out of the other which are the same colour, covered in like a fabric material.
My question is what wires connect to what?

A reasonable guess would be to connect live and neutral to live and neutral of the supply, and the lights to the other end...

Connect the live and neutral to the supply and the other two wires to the lights.
Presuming that the lights are 12V this is a SELV Transformer
