Wiring Along Exposed Beam

I'm looking at running my lighting cable through plasterboard and along the bottom of an exposed beam for just over 1m where it will connect into a lighting track. I'm wondering if there's any neat way of coming through the plasterboard (which will be visible) and whether i need any conduit along the beam and if so, any ideas.

You could fit wall grommets, that would make it look a bit tidier when exiting through plasterboard, also you can purchase wood effect trunking, that may help camouflage the cable routing.
