wiring an electric fire

i have an new fire with just a 13amp plug on can i change the flex to normal 2.5mm 3core flex as the existing cable is short. new length 2.5 metres

Yes.
2.5mm should be plenty big enough, but what is the power rating of the fire?
Use heat-resistant flex.

Yes but it's not as popular as white.
You should be OK with 1.5mm flex but let us know the power rating of your fire to confirm.

Why not buy a length of flex & fit that, ie the same type as currently fitted.
