I am going to install a porch light outside to illuminate the front path. Can i take the feed from a ceiling rose on the interior lighting or do I have to have to take any different precautions for an outside light?

Thanks for your help

yes you can

no you dont

Yes you can. Make sure the exterior light is a good one (some of the cheaper ones really don't protect the connections from moisture well enough) and that the ingoing cable enters the fitting from below so that water cannot run down the cable into it. I prefer to fit via a DP switch to a photocell, like this

and use CFL energy savers and leave it on all the time so it comes on automatically as it gets darker.
