I just purchased a bungalow and the previous owners have brought a 2.5mm cable to the garage.
That feed is then connected to a single socket. From the plug they have taken a spur to a junction box, and from the junction box one connects to another double socket and one to a light fitting.
The CU in the house is an old Wylex CU with upgraded auto fuses( not RCD protected )
Is that configuration allowed and if yes, would I get away with upgrading the existing power sockets with MK Masterseal Plus RCD protected ones or would it be better to put a small RCD unit inside the property that feeds the garage and then use standard MK Masterseal sockets?
Alternative would you install a new CU in the garage that feeds the two sockets and the light?
