After looking at the boiler wiring i noticed someone has put a link in wiring. Im assuming it overrides something as it comes from the thermostat control box. When i take the link out the boiler doesnt fire up at all. Is this the reason for my thermostat not controlling the boiler??

Photos avaliable if needed.

Thanks

Sounds like the thermostat broke and they just stuck a link in there so the heating would turn on. A photo would help to confirm.

If the boiler is working properly with the link in place,,, Just leave it as it is. ;) ;) ;) ;)

it will more than likely be the connections at which external controls are fitted. At a guess, your boiler has a built in clock/programmer and no external temperature controls (room stat etc)

Chances are you guessed correctly.
My turn to guess: Ideal/Sime/Jaguar/Protherm
