Witold Pilecki

Who's he?

A member of the Polish underground during the war

In 1940 he Ochestrated his own arrest so that he could be sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp in order to smuggle out news of what was going on

He became one if the first people to alert the out side world as to what w as going on

He escaped in 1943

Executed by the Russians in 1947

Pilecki reported on how soviet Pows had been gassed at Aushswitz

When Jews began to be gassed Pilecki reported

Over a thousand a day from New transports were gassed

Pilecki's reports were smuggled out of Aushwitz across occupied Europe to the Polish government which was in excile in London
These were than passed onto to senior allied commanders
