Hi ,I have a wood burner that has a 8 in solid flue going in to the chimney .
i have to put a flexi flue down the chimney ,

Could anyone tell me please , can reduce the flue size to a 4 in one in the chimney or do i have to keep it the same as what comes from the wood burner !!!

Didn't know if it would affect the workings of the wood burner ,

Thanks Guys in advance.

No; under current regulations you should not be using less than a 6 inch flue liner even if your stove has only a 5 inch outlet. Fitting a flue liner &/or installing a stove is controlled building work & you should be aware that if you don’t use a registered HETAS installer who can certify as compliant then you should notify your LABC who will inspect & probably want to witness smoke & spillage tests before they issue a compliance certificate.

If you DIY it & can’t produce a certificate if there is a problem, you will effectively be uninsured; you may also have problems with potential buyers but if you get it really wrong, you could even kill yourself!

Cheers Richard ,
Thought that it may need inspecting and certifying , i will have to go down that route and get it done properly .

Many thanks
Ady :)
