I want to take wood lath, stain it and shellac it like crazy.

On the wall, I would alter wood lath with two rows of tiny glass tiles, then wood lath then tile, etc from the floor halfway up.

Is this possible?
Would I mortar as normal and then nail or screw in the wood over the mortar?

Any suggestions/comments welcomed.

Thanks!

What's the wall made of? The biggest problem you’re going to encounter is the different rates of expansion between the wood lath & glass tiles which will crack conventional grout & possible the adhesive as well; silicone might be an option.

What do you mean exactly by mortar?

Silicone that's compatible with your glass tiles...clear silicone off course..

No need for mortar(adhesive)...
