Repeated coats make little difference to the first coat. As you can see in the photos, the shade is way out.

Did you sand the surface well fine and apply a pre-stain wood conditioner such as Zinsser or Rustins supply?

I looked up pics of some samples I made. The mahogany stain was unconvincing on a pale ply.

In my second pic, I put samples of the two different sides together. You can see the darker side, on the right, looks better. That's the side shown in my floor photos.

You won’t achieve that colour with wood dye you need a wood stain .
