I'm looking at putting a Wood burning stove in my new house, as have one in the existing place (1930's Semi)
I was thinking about the heat being lost up the chimney and not heating the room above.
So was thinking about opening up the chimney to expose the pipe (keeps the sides to retain structural strength and line the nice curve behind the pipe with metal to reflect heat into the room) or removing the chimney all together.
In houses with out chimneys, the rooms above get heated by the stove pipe/flue, like a nice vertical radiator.
What are the thoughts on this, from practicality, costs, looks etc.
