Newbie to Diy and my first big big project to redo the bedroom / wall and woodwork:

So after some readings and more reading – decided to go against gloss (oil base) and do satinwood (water base).

Off to brewers tomorrow morning to get a small tin so to double check if I am happy with the finish.

Question:

  • Any difference between these two product for white satin wood?

I was going to go initially for Dulux but saw next door flat with a nice finish with that crown paint so tempted to try that one.

Any alternative suggestions / challenges welcome.

many thanks,
Jeremy

What are your plans for prep?

If you want a good finish, you need to do a lot of prep - sanding and filling - before you pick up a brush. If there's any movement and there's cracks, you need to sort that out too.

Hi Toria,
plan for prep is
- sugar soap quick wash
- light sanding or proper sanding when bad previous finish or stain / mark,
- repair any bit damage if any
- dust with microfiber

anything else suggested?

Sounds good - use a new microfibre - a used one might contain silicone (polish) Brewers paints (Albany) over the sheds any day (y)
