I have been offered a Coalbrookdale Severn type woodburning stove complete with a boiler. I was contemplating fitting it in my fireplace but my query is can I use it in any way, shape or form without connecting a water supply to it? If not, can someone please explain why.
Many thanks.

Not really, you should remove the boiler if you want to burn it dry to prevent damage to the stove. Your HETAS registered installer (I'm sure you're intending to use one rather than fitting it yourself...) should be able to correctly decommission it for you
