Hi,

I have recently got some old doors (1920-30) hand stripped and am currently waiting for them to dry. I believe the wood is Douglas Fir although I could be mistaken.

Once they are dry I intend on treating them but am unsure on what is the best procedure.

The doors will be put on the bedrooms, bathroom, living room and dining room. (not sure if that makes a difference).

Basically what I would like is something that will protect the doors from hand marks, grease, water moisture, etc, while also bringing out the lovely grain and enhance the colour of the wood.

I would also like the method to be simple and not to involve specialist procedures as I intend on doing it myself.

I await your answers and would really appreciate your input's.

Several coats of Danish oil, just wipes on, then a harder wearing finish on top, maybe something from the osmo range.Important to seal all edges especially the bathroom, kitchen.
