hi all. We would like a wood burner in our lounge which has an oak floor. We have a brick hearth with a lip, but the hearth is about apparently 4 cm too short according to regulations and the HETAS installer won't provide a certificate unless resolved.

We've considered: 1) removing part of nearest plank and fit with a tile, 2) covering the wood with some sort for metal covering?

Any other ideas for what we could do?

Much appreciated.

Lift the wooden hearth, put timber flooring all the way into the fireplace, and then get a toughened glass hearth?

Option 1 would be the most straight forward and simple (do keep an expansion gap between floor and tile).
Adding something onto a wood floor could restrict the natural movement of you wooden floor.
