Hello,

What are the pro and cons of fibre board versus roll underlay for a wooden floor ti be laid on top of existing floorboards?
Leaving cost aside what would be best?

Many Thanks

Would have thought U-values are the only things worth comparing really.

I would like to hear some more opinion . please share it as i am also looking for this .

Fibre boards (7mm) could give everything a wobbly/bouncing feel. If your floorboards are rather level, 3mm foam (without DPM!) is enough. If you are looking for extra sound-insulation use Timbermate Duratex.

And if you plan to install the new boards in the same direction as the existing one: boards over first with 3 - 6mm hardboard or plywood.

Fibre boards have better insulation properties for both heat and sound transmission.
