i want to lay wooden flooring in my downstairs lounge.
i fitted it in the upstairs bedrooms but i used underfelt, and it's nice but a little bit springy.
i'm gonna lay 1/2inch ply on the floorboards but do you think that without the inderfelt it will be too hard to walk on?.
the lounge was extended years ago and although the concrete base was level with the floorboards the tiles we laid down make the level 1/2 inch above the floorboards hence the ply. unfortunately the tiles will not shift.
anybody??

So if I understand correctly: one part of your lounge will have a plywood base and part of it has tiles?
If so you'll have to make sure you have one type of underfloor.
As for underlayment, always use underlayment suitable for wooden flooring - nothing else. In your case 3mm foam underlayment will do.
