My floorboards are currently varnished and look orange, I want to go away from the orange colour and to a more oak colour.

Im not sure what i should use instead of the varnish, I am going to sand the floorboards back as they are currently scratched and worn. What will i need to do from this point onwards to give a nice oak appearance and what tips can you give me about doing this job?

Thanks

Andy

How old are they?..if they are quite old they may be oak anyway in which case clear floor varnish will do a job for you

the house was built in 1892, but im pretty sure they are pine, they look a pine colour at the moment.

I would definatly say pine, Can they made to look like oak, do i just use oak coloured varnish or should i stain then varnish?

Yep I would use light oak wood dye not stain then a couple of coats of oil based floor varnish
