Wooden flooring - what to do by front door

Hello

I am about to install new wooden flooring but dont know what to do by the front door.

Will I need to remove the old metal thing in front of the door (sorry dont know what its called) or is there another solution?

haha installing a light mught be a good start.

its a bit dark to make it out there.

But tjust cut it to fit. If its what i think im looking at.

You will likely need an expansion gap of some description, if the metal moulding cannot be moved to allow an expansion gap, fit a square edge moulding that should be available from whoever supplies the wood to finish across the door area.
