Hi all,

I want to put in a large headboard into our bedroom. probably going to cut it from a large sheet of 18mm MDF & cover it with foam & fabric. My main query is that i want to fix it to the wall rather than the bed.

However it is a timber frame semi-detached house & if I fix it to the wall i'm wondering if this would affect the sound insulation from next door. We can already hear some noise from next door and don't want to make it worse by fixing the headboard to the wall.

I would appreciate any feedback, thanks for your time

i would expect it to be quieter as its normaly the back of the headboard banging on the wall when you and your partner play "energetic twister" thats the problem

if your worried put foam on the back

:) I knew someone would interpret it like that.

I meant that if i start drilling holes into the wall to fix the headboard would that allow any extra sound ( TV, hoover etc!!) to come through. What do you reckon?

gotcha you mean like a sounding board well no because the surface is coverd with sound/vibration absorbing foam/cloth probably further aided by dimples ;)
