Worcester 28i junior combi. Goes cold after a while.

when temp rises to max the gas valve mods down to keep temp below cut off point.if min gas pressure on gas valve isnt set properly it cant mod down enough , so cuts off until temp has reduced.generally happens on weak flow rates on cold main.
thank you for all your help yesterday. How can i rectify this fault ? I believe it is the heat exchanger as mentioned, can I prove this and then how do i de-scale it best?
