Hi I'm not a plumber or any trade of that type, I'm a Project Manager in IT.

We have a boiler as per the subject and have suddenly experienced no hot water and luke warm when the heating is on.

By looking at this web site and various others I need to replace the diverter valve or the diaphragm inside. Will need to get a boiler specialist in but don't want them to rip me of in anyway.

Could anyone direct me to the parts I need and how much it will cost to replace these parts......

In a bit of a rutt here as we have no hot water in the house!!!

Thanks

Its one of the easiest of all to change the diverter but you will need the two washers and o ring for the telescopic connector. Other than that you turn off your water run all your hot taps til they are empty. Undo the screws and telescopic fitting and change it over....15 minutes total.

We charge £106 for that including a basic service in the London area plus £15 if we have to renew the sliding joint!

Ollski, could you get me a link of some sort to the items I require and maybe a simple instruction set? Wouldn't have a clue where to start. Looked at the manual online and it is beyond basic with no detail on how to get into the guts of the boiler.

If you are not too clever in diy, best to get a local chap who comes recommended

Tony, whilst you are an experienced gas engineer, you seem to advertise prices on here a lot.

Just an observervation.

Just out of interest Tony why would you not change the o ring in the sliding joint when you had drained the boiler and had easy access to it instead of refilling it and then seeing if it leaked to strip it down again and charge 15.00 for what is almost certain to be required in the first place?

Gents, please, I'm in a rut here and not getting a clear cut answer?!?!!?

1. Part number and source to get a diaphragm
2. Anyone with a step by step, fix my boiler for dummies guide to fix it
3. it's the New Year, no arguing!!!

Thanks in appreciation.....
