Hi,

I have a Worcester greenstar 25i combi heater, its about 6 months old. All was ok but about 3-4 months ago I had a gas fitter fit a cooker into our new home. while he was there I asked him to check the pressure on the heater as it was under 1 on the dial. He got a key and knocked it up to 2 - 2/12. Ever since every time we use the heating it goes up to 3-3/2 into the red and we have a constant puddle out side from the everflow and its stained brown. Also when we wash up in the kitchen and we use the hot water it has a gone off smell. I am concerened about this as we shower in this water and clean our plates etc in it.
Please could anyone help us in this matter as it doesn`t seem right.

Thanks

Neil

Boiler pressure should be 1 - 1.2 bar cold, and possibly increase to approx 2 when hot.
The distcharge from exterior pipe is from the pressure relief valve, caused by having to mutch pressure in boiler. 2.5 bar

You need to reduce pressure.

Are you sure he was registered to fit cooker :?

Hi,

Thanks for reply, you mentioned reducing the pressure, what did the gas fitter do before did he actually add more pressure?, is there an easy way to reduce the pressure or would it be best to call someone out.

Thanks

Neil

Your gas fitter over pressurised the system.

If you have a drain off point on heating system you could drain off some water which will drop the pressure, alternativly you could open bleed valve on radiator and draw off some water. Keep checking pressure gauge and stop drawing off water when gauge shows 1 - 1.2 bar

If you arent too sure how to repressurise the system then I would advice calling someone that knows how, try a friend or neighbour, failing that call the fitter back
