Workshop Mk2

Good going there. Are you going to render or clad it in the end?

Planning on getting started on my garage over the bank holiday weekend...been a few years since I laid any blocks.

Thanks. Going for a 20mm external insulation and 6mm render. It's not much, but orders of magnetude better than none.

Good luck, hope the weather holds for you. Blocks are interesting... Not laid 100mm ones before. I'm happy with the accuracy and mortar joints, but my process is a bit long winded and I'd have been kicked off the job site long ago if I were answerable to anyone (other than the wife)

Little wins. Close up of the now forming pillar

And some CMU fill

It's still going. Just slowly.

Decorating the kids room got in the way.

Doorway pillars are up awaiting a lintel and a final decision on whether I should add an 11 block course.

I have enough blocks to take one corner up to final height, currently dry stoned.

Got another order of lintel & blocks to get delivered and then onwards!

Oh, and I've got a small order of EWI parts coming in so I can trial how they all fit together.

I took the opportunity to add some conduit down the door pillars. I'll do the same with the mid-wall piers for the machine tools and can hopefully avoid almost all vertical conduit down the face of the walls.

Also added them to the outside for lights switch and sockets.

Door lintel(s) are in. They are not light and I'm glad I don't have H&S visits. The incremental Jenga tower of blocks was safer than it looks. Honest!

Now I can carry on with the walls.

In this heat.

Yay.

I’m feeling your pain. I was laying blocks in the sunshine today too and sweating out of parts of my body that I never knew could sweat :D

I have finished laying the walls!

Oh god. That was so much effort.

There is now a very definite alley between home and build.

And even the start of some timber

I'm close to having it rain proof. Let's goooo!

Skipped a few progress pics. But roofs on, cantilever is solid and with tarps, I'm rain proof.

Now I can slow down a bit and chill.
